EDGE is a Catholic middle school ministry aimed to present the truths of the Catholic faith in a hands-on and relevant format. The format of the EDGE program is designed to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, educational, and social needs of your middle school youth.
Our EDGE team works together to lead vibrant and fun sessions each week. Our EDGE Team is made up of our Youth Minister Madi Lien, young adults and high school teens.
EDGE meets in both The Gathering Place and downstairs in Marian Hall every Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:45 PM, September through May.
Parent Helper: EDGE is a program that is very different from grade school classroom catechesis and parent involvement is key. EDGE nights are high in energy making transitions difficult. To help with this, we ask each of you to be parent helpers. We also realize that it is difficult to get kids fed before EDGE so we provide a snack during our Gather from 6:30-6:45 p.m. We are asking that each family sign up for 2 nights to be one of 3 parent helpers. As a parent helper you will provide a healthy snack for 25 youth and stay the evening to help with discipline, to help the leaders with passing out papers, picking up the area, and other various tasks.
Parent/Youth Nights: This year, our parents will be invited to attend parent/youth EDGE sessions titled “Fuse.” At the very moment of our baptism God infused within our souls the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity. Fuse breaks open each of these virtues and reveals to the youth and their parents the power and importance of utilizing and growing in these virtues. The virtues of faith, hope, and charity are given as a gift from God and they allow us to live a blessed life with God empowering us to change the world for the better.
The five scheduled parent/youth nights are: 10/02/19 SPARK –PARENT/YOUTH NIGHT #1 Edge Night on Faith
11/20/19 GROUNDED-PARENT/YOUTH NIGHT #2 Edge Night on Hope
2/05/20 WILDFIRE PARENT/YOUTH NIGHT #3 Edge Night on Charity
4/22/20 INFUSED PARENT/YOUTH NIGHT #4 Edge Social Night on Living the Virtues
4/29/20 EDGE PARENT/YOUTH SERVICE NIGHT
Please make sure that at least one parent is present for all five of these sessions. More than one parent is encouraged as well. Parents also can expect to receive a parent letter coming home with their son or daughter each week which will help you share what they’ve learned in class with you at home.
