EDGE is a Catholic middle school ministry aimed to present the truths of the Catholic faith in a hands-on and relevant format. The format of the EDGE program is designed to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, educational, and social needs of your middle school youth. New themes come out each semester. On the EDGE Calendar you will find session themes listed for the fall, but not for the spring semester. The Spring Semester programing doesn’t come out until November. Stay tuned.
Due to Covid, our youth will participate in the EDGE program in a small group. This small group will remain the same over the course of the year. All small group leaders have completed the Safe Environment Training required by the Diocese.
EDGE THEMES FOR THE FALL SEMESTER:
A Great Marvel: What is it about superheroes that we find so fascinating? How is it that their characters continue to inspire generation after generation? How is it that their stories never get old? Superheroes are the ones who stand for what is right and defend those in need. They, in many ways, reveal the qualities of virtue and inspire us as we are drawn into their stories. Heroes protect what is good and provide for us examples of what it looks like to do the same. A Great Marvel uses examples of different superheroes to introduce youth to the four cardinal virtues and inspire them to grow in those virtues in their own lives.
NEW FIRE: The Holy Spirit is powerful and transformative. When the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles at Pentecost, the world was forever changed: The new era of the Church began, and the apostles went out to all the nations proclaiming the good news of the love of Jesus. This Small Group Guide will help the youth understand who the Holy Spirit is, the significance of Pentecost, and how they are called to live in the new fire of the Holy Spirit.
