l attend Moorhead High School and I enjoy being very involved. I am a part of many clubs where I hold leadership positions. I am the president of the key club and garden club, the vice president of choir, speech team captain, and student costume leader for the fall musical. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering and spending as much time outside as possible.
Two individuals who have inspired me the most in my life and in my faith are my mother, Jean, and my brother, Chase. They are both very active in their faith life and help me grow in my own. Through praying at every meal, going to confession and just simply going to Mass every Sunday; they constantly show me amazing ways to continue my journey with God. They are always there to remind me that even when life gets tough, God is always right by my side to pick me up when I have fallen down. A year and a half ago my family lost my father, Paul, to stage four colon cancer. While this took a toll on my family, my faith stayed strong and I found comfort and support through my relationship with Jesus.
Stewardship, to me, is a way of giving back to my church and God for all that they have done for me. I have found so many ways to be involved in my community through my church. I have volunteered a number of times over the years at the Dorothy Day Food Pantry and it always puts a smile on my face to see the positive impact this organization has in our community. They make a difference every day in people’s lives. Recently I joined the Life Band that plays at 6:30 p.m. Mass. It has been so rewarding to get to sing with such incredible members of our parish community, as well as being able to praise God through music. I also love volunteering at our church benefits.
Next year, I plan on attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis to study either Elementary Art Education or Interior Design. I am beyond excited for this new chapter of my life, even though I will be leaving behind such large and important parts of my life. As I venture down to the Cities and search for a new church to be a part of, I will always keep St. Joseph’s in my heart and will look forward to coming back over the holidays.
