How can you participate in various children's ministries?
All adults and students helping who are 18 and older must complete the Safe Environment Training through the diocese along with a background check.
CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD (ages 3-6)
ASSISTANT: Assist the leader during weekly sessions with the pre K and K students.
MATERIALS MAKER: Build dioramas and figures (blueprints given), paint, cut, collage pieces, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Currently Needed: calligraphers and wood staining and varnishing help
LITURGY
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD LEADER/HELPER: Approximately once per month during the 10:00 a.m. Mass, take children out of Mass to break open the word and discuss on their level. Materials and training are provided.
LIL JOE BAG ORGANIZER: Inspect the book bags monthly and restock as needed.
FAITH FORMATION (K-5th grade)
CATECHIST: Teach the children’s faith formation classes that are offered for the preschool and elementary students at St. Joseph’s parish.
CATECHIST SUBSTITUTE: Fill in and teach the children’s faith formation classes that are offered for the preschool and elementary students at St. Joseph’s when the regular teacher cannot make it to the class.
HALL/DOOR MONITOR: Be in the hallway of the main floor during faith formation classes in case of emergency.
SPECIAL EVENTS
FAMILY ADVENT DAY HELPER: Help find activities and gather supplies and helpers for Family Advent Day, the first Sunday of Advent.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (preK - 5th grade)
STATION LEADER: Adult teacher; teaching various groups the same lesson throughout the morning. Vacation Bible School is held in the mornings in early June.
CREW LEADER: Middle school or high school students who lead assigned groups of children from station to station.
